Minecraft hosting questions
Quick answers to help you pick the right plan.
How much RAM do I need for a Minecraft server?
For a small vanilla or Paper server with up to about 5 players, 2 GB is usually enough. For 10 to 20 players, plan on 4 GB. Modpacks and larger communities (30+ players) usually need 8 GB or more. You can upgrade to a bigger plan at any time.
Which server software should I choose?
Paper is the best default for most survival and community servers: it is fast and supports Spigot and Bukkit plugins. Purpur is a Paper fork with extra settings. Vanilla is the unmodified game. Fabric is a light mod loader, and Forge and NeoForge are used for large mods and modpacks. Velocity is a proxy for linking several servers.
Can I install plugins and mods myself?
Yes. The control panel includes a plugin installer and a version chooser, plus a file manager and SFTP access if you want to upload files yourself.
Can Bedrock players join my Java server?
Yes. With the Geyser plugin, Bedrock players on phones and consoles can join a Java server. Extra network allocations on your plan give you the ports you need for it.
What happens if my server is attacked?
Every plan includes network-level DDoS protection that filters attack traffic before it reaches your server.
Can I change my Minecraft version later?
Yes. Use the version chooser in the panel to switch versions or server software. We recommend making a backup first.
